What are your favorite ways to save money?

With today's economy so uncertain saving money couldn't be more important. I am always searching for new and productive ways to save. From grocery's to eating out and pet products when you know where to look it's easier than ever to save.

My favorite saving strategy would have to be coupons. Sources for coupons have risen greatly. From newspapers, magazine and the internet your savings will depend on your effort. Join a manufactures website to receive updates on current coupons. Compare grocery ads to coupons available for the greatest savings. However you must be cautious. The rise of internet coupons has created a new industry of fraud. I'll save that for another day.

Who doesn't love free stuff? I've gotten everything from free toothpaste to free sausage. When companies market a new product they need to get the word out. What better way than offer a freebie? Kraft, Procter&Gamble, Johnson&Johnson, and Kellogg are only a few websites that offer free samples. Samples range from a trial size, to a coupon for free full size merchandise.

Always take inventory. Before you run out to buy something make sure you don't have a commodity that will work just as well. Many items can be substituted for an alternate that is less expensive. For example if I have a recipe that calls for butter milk I don't buy buttermilk just for the recipe. Instead I add a little lemon juice to skim milk and wala.

Holidays of any kind
are special. It can be easy to save on gifts and cards. My daughter received a postcard from an online jewelry promo she had joined to save $25 on any $25 or more purchase. All she has to do is spend $2.95 for shipping. Online printing companies offer great deals on printed cards during holidays to boost business. Take advantage of "reduced" gift card promotions that pop up from time to time. Just be sure to pay attention to any restrictions.

The internet is a treasure trove for bargan seekers. I want to leave you with two of my favorite websites to vist for savings. allyou.com offers coupons and special saving tips, and a "freebie" that changes daily. A franchise of blog sites search out the best deals of the day and pass them on. Just search my(insert your city name here)mommy.com. So, if you live in the Dallas area vist .mydallasmommy.com
